Three Options: Two better than Greenbrier

See Graphic Below Showing Previous Master Plan Bridge Crossings directly into West Campus.

Option #1, Previously Proposed Initial Crossing of Thompson Bayou: Older Campus Master Plans recommended a high bridge over open water near the mouth of Thompson Bayou at the Escambia River as the preferred route for a new Western Entrance with direct access to the West Campus. Further connections to Highway 29 would be either a) Kingsfield Drive, or b) Greenbrier/Ten Mile Road.

Option #2, 2001 Master Plan Proposed Route directly across Thompson Stream (Not Bayou) into the West Campus: The 2001 Campus Master Plan recommended a more direct route into the development property from Campus Drive near Parking Lot G/Building 13 crossing closely to the Ed Ball Nature Trail. Further connections to Highway 29 would be either a) Kingsfield Drive, or b) Greenbrier/Ten Mile Road.
Graphic Legend: Note Greenbrier “Street,” Pate Street, and a proposed Loop alteration of Campus Drive on East Campus. Notice the Greenbrier Route will require extensive access roads into West Campus and another bridge.

Option #3, The off campus Greenbrier Extension Proposal: The 2006 Campus Master Plan (which is the current plan), recommends “The Greenbrier Extension.” This plan does not include access into the development property. That access would be further construction and include another bridge measuring about 290 feet. On this option between Campus Drive and Guidy Lane there are 47 private driveways, eight subdivision entrances, and many school bus stops. Further connections to Highway 29 would be Greenbrier/Ten Mile Road which has an inadequate right-of-way west of Pate Road that most likely can only support a two lane road.
